Stan Emmerson grew up as an only child on a dairy farm at Fish Creek. In February 1999 he somehow found himself at the High Court of Australia, where he is permitted (within reason) to apply a modicum of spit and polish to the court’s judgments.
He once overheard the mother of a childhood friend describe him as “very literal”.
He is the author of “What is the ‘it’? A handbook for proofing court judgments”, published by The Federation Press in August 2023.
